The Causes of Back Pain

back-pain-causesHave you always wondered why you are always inflicted with back pain? Most of us experience this problem of back pain sometime in our life or other. In fact, there are more among us who suffer from this problem than those who do not suffer at all! It is no wonder, then, that there are so many types of back pain medication and treatments available in the market today. But what is the root cause of this problem and what is it that triggers this condition? Why does this nuisance continue to plague us, especially in this twenty-first century, when things are supposedly so advanced?

This issue of pain in the back area is actually quite complex. There is usually no one reason to pinpoint this problem in a patient. But there might be a few things we might be doing wrong, which aggravates the problem and makes it far worse. Here are some of the commonest causes of back pain:

Overweight is inexorably linked to back pain. The human body is naturally designed to withstand a lot. But it can take only so much weight, no more. The overweight or obese physique puts an immense strain on the back muscles, resulting in the knotting up of the back muscles, causing pain to the individual concerned. In such cases, reducing about 10-15 kilograms of weight can give rise to many benefits, the first being the disappearance of the back pain!

Overwork often leads to back pain. Over-exercise is bad too. This puts added pressure on the back muscles; forcing the back to creak and complain about the sad state it is in! Also, lifting too much weight is not advisable. If you have to lift weights, make sure you bend the knees in order to share the burden. Bending only from the back can be dangerous, as you will end up unnecessarily injuring that area. If you are a regular visitor to the gym, see to it that you have an instructor telling you what to do and how to use the weight machines. Do not try anything on your own, else you are at risk of injuring your back in some way.

Remember never to start exercises without warming up first. The body needs a gentle stretch before you can begin exercising vigorously. So give it a proper warm-up and then start off with your regular workout schedule.

Maintaining the right posture is very important if you want to ease your back of its strain. Keeping the back erect while sitting, standing and walking can give you tremendous benefits as far as curing your back pain is concerned. Slouching is never desirable, as it causes the spine to bend painfully, causing discomfort and cramping of the back muscles.

So you see, solving your back pain problem is really very easy, provided you are willing to make a few changes and adjustments to your general way of working. Make it a habit of working and exercising the right way and you will soon notice that your back pain is a thing of the past.
