Kidney stones might be or might not be painful depending on their size. Small kidney stones can be painless while the larger ones can be extremely painful when they are lodged in the ureter or renal pelvis as the body endeavors to excrete them. Kidney stones can cause infections, which may exhibit symptoms as the ones above.
Back pains behave in different ways:-
- The pain tends to be localized
- It may occur abruptly
- It can be worsened or improved by specific positions and movements
- Back pains do not cause generalized illness or fever
- Most of the times when experiencing lower back pain kidney problems, taking pain killers can restore you back to normal, make you sicker or feel just different; however, it is imperative not to mistake this for kidney problems.

Over the past years, I have never stumbled upon a person who has ever confused lower back pain kidney problems for lower back pains. The difference is easy to identify without any problems.
